GM Chris Ward Returns for Second Simultaneous Exhibition

On Thursday 24th April 2025, GM Chris Ward returned to Dartford Junior Chess Club for a second simultaneous exhibition — proof of how much both sides enjoyed the first encounter.

Round Two

Having faced Chris less than two weeks earlier, our juniors came prepared. They'd studied their games from the first simul, worked on their weaknesses, and were ready to give the Grandmaster an even tougher challenge this time around.

Chris once again moved between the boards with characteristic ease, but the improvement in our players was clear. Several juniors managed to hold much stronger positions for longer, and the overall quality of play was noticeably higher than the first event.

Certificates for All

Every junior who participated received a certificate commemorating their experience of playing against a Grandmaster. It's a keepsake that marks a special moment in their chess journey — not many players can say they've sat across the board from a GM.

Rapid Improvement

What stood out most was how much our juniors had improved between the two events. The experience of the first simul clearly motivated them to work harder, and it showed in their play. This is exactly what events like these are designed to do — inspire young players to push themselves further.
